Had an amazing session with the “H” family this evening. They were great to work with and their closeness was beautiful. The session was laid back but also full of energy from 2 little guys. Does that make sense??
Sometimes the lighting is just perfect and this was one of those nights. I have this wonderful relationship with light. As a photographer…and I have been at this for a long time….I have learned to appreciate and love working with light. When I started my career in photography I photographed in film and processed in the darkroom. The film process is so different from digital and in all honesty it took me a while to get used to working with digital cameras. I appreciate the flexibility that digital cameras offer but still love film and when processing digitally I try to give the images as much of a film look as I can. What I love about film the most is that it is not perfect. Is a photograph supposed to be? I am feeling philosophical tonight I guess. Feel free to leave a comment if you would like on this subject.
These boys were so adorable and I really enjoyed photographing them just doing what little boys love to do. Running…picking up pine-cones…throwing the pine-cones…sneaking up on a bunny…running some more…going for the geese and still managing to fit in some more running.
Some of my favorites so far…

When I received a call from Bridget last week that she, Stephen and Harper were going to be in town from LA and wanted to know if we could get together for some photos as a gift for Nona, I said “Of course! When and where?”
Another special family. I photographed Harper last October and when Stephen was in town this past January we took some headshots.
Early Saturday morning I was able to spend some time with the S family at the house. I have been sitting here deliberating on which to post and finally settled on these. I wish I could have posted them all…it would have taken an hour to load though.
Little preview here…wonderful session!

Harper grabbed my camera from around my neck and pushed the right button. I guess this is his first work of photographic art, he most definitely has great talent!

I work with the most wonderful families…
You may recognize Scarlett, Anne and Sam from previous posts. We have enjoyed 3 sessions together this past month. Friday we photographed in the studio and again the session was great.
They have made their move to Asia. Best wishes to to the C Family! Don’t forget…my passport is current!

Not the name of this little man but it was the song that soothed his spirit. His name is Ben and he is very cute.
Music seemed to be the theme of our session. We listened to everything from The Beach Boys to Frank Sinatra … ‘N Sync to Dave Matthews. I was so amazed at Ben and how reacted and relaxed with the music…and at just 1 month old to the day.
The craziest thing happened….when I started photographing some intimate family moments the song “100 Years” by Five for Fighting came on. We all just started laughing because it was almost like a song from the soundtrack to the session. Perfect song for a perfect moment.
I wanted to get some images posted before midnight….love these so far.

This is where I was today! A nice drive from beautiful Doylestown.
Take a look at these handsome guys…very soon they will have a little sister or brother! Very soon….
Enjoy these Emily…some of my favorites so far.

Finding the Highlights magazine in the Dr’s office always meant victory when I was a little girl. My sister Amy and I would race to find the copy that always seemed to be hidden in a pile of magazines. The Timbertoes and Picture Find…my favorites. What were yours?

…I am seriously working on this. My life is a busy one. All I need is just 3 more hours of daylight! Please!
Today, after arriving home from an afternoon meeting I exploded through the back door and announced yelled, “Get on your suits! We are out of here!” … and to the creek we went. Jeff and I had such a great time with the little ones this evening. They were so funny. This was a much needed break for us all.
I have decided that I need to do this more. I have felt a bit stretched lately … also the weight of the world seems to be settling on my shoulders. Some days the pressure is mighty.
As I sit here looking over these images and thinking about this special day, I believe I can learn a lot from these precious little ones of mine. What do you think?

…above and below…this is better than any jacuzzi.

…a must have for getting around the rocks without slippin’.

I photographed Lily’s first birthday party last weekend. Blog entry below…. the afternoon was wonderful!
This morning I met Lily, Alysha and Dean for Lily’s first birthday session. Perfect morning for a session with the B family!
This little one was just amazing…she has eyes that smile. :)
